The 22nd African, Asian and Latin American Film Festival will take place in Milan from 19th to 25th March 2012.
The Festival is organized by the Centro Orientamento Educativo (COE) Association, a non-governmental organization which has been working for several years on the promotion and distribution of cinema from the three continents.
African, Asian and Latin American Film Festival is an opportunity to meet and become acquainted with the themes and languages of new movies which are, mostly, unknown to Italian audiences.
The presence at the festival of directors from the three continents facilitates cultural exchange with professional operators from Italy and Europe. It also encourages South-South co-productions.
The film festival will have four sections.
"Windows on the World" feature film Competition
The Competition presents fiction films made by directors from Africa, Asia and Latin America (minimum running time 60 minutes). Prize: €15,000 - Public’s prize: €5000.
"Windows on the World" documentary Competition
The Competition presents documentaries made by directors from Africa, Asia and Latin America (minimum running time 60 minutes). Prize: €6000.
Best African Film Competition
Fiction films from the most recent African production (minimum running time 60 minutes). Prize €7,500.
African Short Film Competition
The competition presents short films (fiction and documentary) only by African directors (maximum running time 59 minutes). Prize: €7,500.
Extr’A Section
This is a section for Italian filmmakers that presents films (fiction and documentary) on the three continents or on issues related to immigration in Italy.
Please note that all entries (application form and a DVD) must be sent to the organisers not later than 16th December 2011. Contest entry is free of charge.
