Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Gianfranco Fini has called for an organic law on asylum and refugees.
He made the call while receiving in his office a delegation of 'A Buon Diritto' Association led by the association’s President Luigi Manconi.
The delegation which included Valentina Brinis and Federica Resta, handed to Mr. Fini a report on the state of immigrants’ and refugees’ rights in the country.
The report titled “Lampedusa non é un'isola. Profughi e migranti alle porte dell'Italia” shows the critical conditions under which asylum seekers and refugees are hosted in the Identification and Expulsion Centres.
Italy is the only country in the European Union without an organic law on asylum.
