Brussels Airlines is celebrating its tenth anniversary on the Italian market with a capacity increase on several routes and great connections from Italy to Africa and the United States.
Ten years after the creation of the airline back in 2002, Brussels Airlines is more than ever active in the Italian market. With direct flights to the European capital from Rome, Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, Bologna, Torino, Venice, Napoli and Catania, Brussels Airlines is by far the largest aviation player between Italy and Belgium. In fact, in terms of number of destinations, Italy ranks as the first destination country of the airline with on average 1.100 flights and 130.000 seats every month.
Brussels Airlines continues to invest in Italy. Smaller aircraft on the Milan routes were last year replaced by larger Airbus aircraft. This year, the Rome-Brussels service will be upgraded as well thanks to the use of new Airbus planes. All aircraft are equipped with the latest generation of seats offering more space and leg room than many other airlines do.
Brussels Airlines does not only link the European capital with eight Italian destinations. Its entire European and long haul network connects well with Italy. Passengers starting their air travel journey in Italy can thanks to the timing of their flights and a smooth transfer at Brussels Airport continue their journey to 20 destinations on the African Continent. Places like Dakar, Nairobi, Kinshasa, Conakry, Banjul, Cotonou, Bujumbura, Ouagadougou, Douala, Yaoundé, Liberia and Kigali are thanks to Brussels Airlines linked with Italy. “We have an excellent Africa network offer for the large African community in Italy,” says Brussels Airlines Country Manager Italy Roberta Monti. “But with countries like Kenya, Senegal and Gambia in our network portfolio we also cater well for the tourism market.”
From 1st June 2012 Brussels Airlines launched a new daily service to New York JFK. Also this new route is thanks to its excellent connections with Italy warmly welcomed on the Italian market. From cities like Milan, Rome, Bologna and Torino passengers can leave in the early morning and already arrive at 12h10 PM local time in New York’s JFK airport.
This year Brussels Airlines invests no less than 30 million euro in its long haul in-flight product setting the future standards for a superior on-board experience.
The long haul Airbus A 330 -300 aircraft receive brand new cabins with spacious state of the art luxurious flat beds in business class and Italian designed comfort seats in economy. The business seats (length 1m97) all have pneumatic cushions that are adjustable from soft to hard and thanks to their configuration in the business class privacy is guaranteed.
The new in-flight entertainment system, of which Brussels Airlines is the launch customer, is revolutionary thanks to its so called tablet design and large screen (business class 39 cm, 22 cm in economy) 3D in-flight entertainment and large content offer.
