Regularisation of illegal immigrant workers not suspended

Some people are spreading rumours that the government of Italy has suspended the plan to regularise illegal immigrant workers.

The people behind such rumours claim that other EU countries have forced Italy to reconsider its decision to allow employers of illegal immigrants to regularise their workers.

These rumours are unfounded. The government of Italy has not decided to suspend or postpone the regularisation of illegal immigrant workers.

According to the Legislative Decree No. 109 of 16th July 2012, employers of illegal immigrants will be able to apply to regularise their workers from 15th September to 15th October 2012.

Any time from now an Inter-ministerial Decree will be published outlining the requirements and giving instructions on how to submit the applications.
