Question: Hi, I applied for regularization and I’ve just received a letter summoning me and the employer to the Immigrations Office at the Prefecture (Sportello Unio). However, the employer who submitted my application doesn’t want to come with me to the Immigrations Office to undersign the Residency contract (Contratto di soggiorno). Can I replace him with a new employer? Please help me.
Answer: At this stage you cannot replace the employer. You should convince the employer who submitted the application to go with you to the Immigrations Office to declare that he no longer wants to undersign the Residency contract because he doesn’t need your services anymore. Such a declaration will be considered firing and will enable you to be issued a Permit of Stay for job search valid for six months.
