I am a political asylum seeker. Can I be regularized?
4th February 2010: Question: I am a political asylum seeker in Italy with a Permit of Stay valid for three months. Can I be still be regularized? Thank you.
Answer: Last year the Government introduced a special regularization measure only for domestic workers.
All illegal immigrants, asylum seekers, refused asylum seekers and all other categories of migrants without work permit could apply to be regularized if they were domestic workers.
If you applied to be regularised last year when applications were being accepted, then you may be regularised.
Applications were to be submitted from 1st to 30th September last year. Your chances of being regularised, if you applied last year depend on whether you met all the required conditions. But if you didn't apply to be regularised last year, then you cannot apply now because applications are no longer accepted.
