Question: Hi, I applied for authorisation to work (nulla osta) for a Nigerian domestic worker. We have been to the Immigrations Office at the Prefecture to undersign the Residency contract (contratto di soggiorno) and we were given the application kit to take to the post office to apply for the Permit of Stay for work. I’d like to find out if there a time limit for taking it to the post office and how long it will take before the worker is summoned to the Provincial Police Headquarters for fingerprinting and to submit photos. Thanks.
Answer: There is no law indicating the time limit for taking the application kit to the post office. It is however advisable to take it as soon as possible. Of late it takes about a month to be summoned to the Provincial Police Headquarters for fingerprinting and to submit photos.
