The following will be allowed to apply as employers in order to regularise their illegal immigrant workers: Italian citizens, European Union citizens and non-EU citizens who are holders of the EC long term residence permit (Carta di Soggiorno).

If you are an illegal immigrant worker in Italy and are planning to regularise your stay in the country, make sure your employer has a clean legal record.

The EC long-term residence permits can only be issued to non-EU foreigners who are clearly integrated into the local society.

This is why the law states that such permits can only be revoked under serious circumstances.
